Faith and Belief

In order to find my faith I must find the true meaning of faith, and how it relates to belief. How they are similar and where the differences are. According to the Webster Online Dictionary faith is defined by many different meanings; an allagiant to a person or promise, loyalty. The belief and trust in God, and the doctrine of the religion, a firm belief where no proof can be found, a complete trust. Finally believing with a strong conviction. Belief also has many different definitions and is defined as a state of mind in which complete trust in something or someone, also conviction of the truth of something or someone based on examination of evidence. The Websters Online Dictionary defines faith and belief as synonyms. They are simialar because they both deal with the idea of believing and acceptance of a truth. However the similarites seem to end there because to have belief you must have evidence and the ability to examin the evidence.

I always thought that faith and belief went hand in hand. Faith was the reason you needed no evidence. But faith is belief and assurace that you are right, no questions. But you never can really know for sure and that is where my ability to have faith fails, I can never truely know for sure. There are so many religions and all of them, faith is asked of its followers, and people do have faith. So how do I know who is right, because I am terrified of being wrong.
